ACCLAIMING WORKS THAT BEST REFLECT THEIR CULTURAL ORIGINS.
AWARDING CINEMATIC EXCELLENCE.
Film in the hands of a great filmmaker has the power to change lives; the power to bridge cultural divides; the courage to explore and tell our stories; to inform and entertain; to deliver better understanding into hearts and minds.
In collaboration with CNN International, UNESCO and FIAPF, that is what the Asia Pacific Screen Awards acclaim.
The APSAs – the region’s highest accolade in film - are celebrated in a special ceremony on Australia’s Gold Coast each November.
Thirty-two films representing 17 countries were finalists in the 2008 APSAs, with winners coming from Australia, India, Islamic Republic of Iran, Israel, Kazakhstan, People’s Republic of China, Republic of Korea and Turkey. Winners were determined by an International Jury headed by Academy Award nominated Australian Director, Bruce Beresford.
